Traffic Coordinator
Summary: Coordinate the necessary information from the company's internal customers to allow for servicing both the internal and external customers and manage the logistics to achieve the needs of both customers.
Duties:
·Plan loads and determines the best method of shipping the product both economically and safely.
·Assign driver's list to the drivers.
·Maintain driver files to meet D.O.T. regulations.
·Call and book trailer loads on a timely basis.
·Research, locates, and evaluates potential carriers and maintains current files on it.
·Secure and negotiate pricing as appropriate.
·Create accurate purchase orders, bills of lading, delivery receipts, load lists, and any paperwork necessary to shipments on a timely basis.
·Perform other tasks as necessary, relevant to the attainment of the department objectives.
Responsibilities:
·Present a professional image to our vendors and customers.
·Manages time well and sets priorities for tasks.
·Communicates effectively with both internal and external customers.
·Provide leadership for peers and for the department in the absence of the supervisor.
Specifications:
·Must possess good written and oral communication skills utilizing voice mail, e-mail, facsimiles, and personal communication.
·Must have computer skills, especially Microsoft word and excel format.
·Must have good planning and organizational skills.
·High school diploma or equivalent.
Job Relationships
·Reports to the Shipping Supervisor.
·Works closely with Project Managers, Manufacturing Supervisor, Purchasing, Receiving, Inventory, and Team Leaders.
Authority:
·Assumes responsibilities of shipping supervisor in his absence.
·Can initiate discipline with the guidance of the supervisor.
·Create purchase orders for product shipment.
