Marketing and Sales Manager

Department: Marketing/Sales
Reports To: Vice President/Chief Operating Officer
Summary: Works closely with the Marketing and Sales Team to develop and implement strategic marketing and sales plans in order to achieve corporate sales objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
·Develops sales forecasts with the concurrence of the Leadership Team and is a member of the Leadership Team.

·Works with the Leadership Team in the development of strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals. Implements those plans.
·Analyzes the market to determine customer needs; to recommend price schedules and discount rates; and to identify new market opportunities.
·Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations of Account Executives.
·Assigns sales territories or market segments to Account Executives.
·Ensures that corporate policies and procedures are followed by Account Executives.
·Uses sales statistics provided by Accounting to evaluate both the effectiveness of individual sales reps and the degree to which market penetration goals are being met.
·Represents company at trade shows, association meetings, etc. to promote services.
·Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with Account Executives and assists Account Executives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
·Analyzes and controls expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements.
·Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
·Works closely with Customer Development Representatives to determine the market potential of new service ideas.
·Monitors and evaluates the activities and services of the competition.
·Coordinates the development of marketing literature, advertising materials, and sales promotion tools.
·Develops and implements advertising campaigns and sales promotion activities.
·Works with Human Resources to recruit, select, and train Account Executives.
·Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises Account Executives

·Must be able to use the following computer software: Windows 95 Platform software, TMW PCMiler Mileage, MapLinks, MS Word Word, Goldmine, and Winfax Fax

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree (business or marketing) or equivalent experience is required. Management experience is desirable. Direct experience as an Account Executive is necessary.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Strong communication skills are essential. The Marketing and Sales Manager must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing. He/She must be able to accurately interpret communication from Customers and have the ability to communicate Customer requirements effectively to appropriate internal Team Members and Driver Representatives, as needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Above average mathematical skills are needed.

REASONING ABILITY The Sales Manager must possess excellent reasoning ability. He/she must be able to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, select and implement the best alternative, and communicate the logic behind the decision to others, both within the organization and outside it.
