Driver Recruiter/Benefits Administrator

Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager
Summary: Recruits, researches, interviews, screens, and refers job candidates for Driver Representative openings; coordinates Driver Representative Training; and administrates employee benefits for Driver Representatives by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Driver Recruiter Responsibilities
·Confers with management and supervisors to identify driver needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.
·Writes job descriptions or reviews and edits job descriptions written by others.
·Develops recruitment programs, budgets, and collateral to attract applicants and to fill specific job openings.
·Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
·Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for specific job openings.
·Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position.
·Screens and refers candidates for additional interviews with others in organization, as needed.
·Develops recruitment programs, budgets, and collateral, such as brochures about the organization and its opportunities.
·Writes and places job advertising in various media.
·Develops and coordinates internal job posting program and writes job postings.
·Coordinates participation in, sets up display, and works at job fairs.
·Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.
·Makes public presentations at schools, organizations, and job fairs regarding the organization and opportunities.
·Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates.
·Utilizes Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates.
·Posts available positions of the Jobs Board to identify and recruit candidates.
·Provides information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants.
·Arranges travel and lodging for out-of-town applicants.
·Performs reference and background checks on applicants.
·Coordinates communications with applicants.
·Files and maintains employment records for future references, as needed in concert with the Safety Director.
·Extends job offers to chosen candidates.
·Orients new Driver Representatives.
·Coordinates training of new Driver Representatives.
·Maintains positive relationships with all Team Members who provide training to new Driver Representatives. Those Team Members include the Safety Director, the Operations Manager, the Fleet Planner/Dispatcher, the Staff Accountant who handles driver documentation, the Staff Accountant who handles payroll, the MIS specialist, Customer Development Representatives, the Sales Manager, and the Vice President/Chief Operations Officer.
·Follows up on performance of new Driver Representatives. Initiates retraining, as needed.
·Conducts exit interviews.
·Maintains turnover statistics, including reasons for leaving, and works with the Operations Team to improve employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.

Benefits Administrator Responsibilities
·Helps Driver Representatives solve problems within the organization, e.g. payroll problems, insurance problems, etc.
·Provides insurance counsel or protection for all employees.
·Assists all employees in finding solutions to personal problems which may hinder their ability to perform their work adequately.
·Administers the workman's compensation program.
·Ensures that vending machines, laundry equipment, and any other services available to employees are working properly. Secures repair services, as needed.
·Conducts social activities, athletic activities, or other activities which promote good will among all employees.
·Develops and administers illness and accident prevention programs for all employees.
·Develops and administers security regulations such as tornado procedures, fire procedures, etc.
·Keeps a record of all keys distributed to employees and ensures that keys are returned to the Benefits Administrator if the employee leaves.
·In accord with the Vice President/Chief Operations Officer publishes holiday schedules and distributes them to all employees.
·Maintains all company bulletin boards or other methods of general communication.
·Maintains benefits administration plans such as 401K, health insurance, life insurance, gainsharing plan, vacation time, etc.
·Cross trains in order to assist or fill in for safety and operations functions.
·Assists with Open Book Management implementation, training, and communications.
·Develops and administers programs that support the overall Mission of company while increasing retention and recognition.
·Coordinates employee recognition programs.
·Works cooperatively with Operations Team Members to achieve company objectives.
·Strives for continuous improvement in company operations.
·Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work place
·Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ·The Driver Recruiter/Benefits Administrator must have and be willing to maintain the knowledge necessary to stay abreast of current economic conditions which affect hiring and with current benefits plans and any changes to those plans which may occur in the future.
·Must be a team player, able to work successfully with interdependent teams
·Must be self-motivated, a 'self starter'
·Must be able to work successfully with the following software programs: Windows 95–platform software, TMW–operations software, PCMiler–mileage, routing software, MapLinks–integration Software, Goldmine–contact management software, MS Word–word processing software, MS Excel–spreadsheet software, DAC–screening services, and Drug/Alcohol–DOT compliance software

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A high school diploma or equivalent experience with experience in either recruiting or benefits administration is required. A B.A. in Human Resources is very helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Average math skills are required.

REASONING ABILITY Good reasoning ability is required.
