Hollywood, FLNASFM enters GlobalShop 2000s seminar track with a session designed to educate retailers on the impact of fixture purchasing decisions. The session, titled "The Dollars and Sense of Purchasing Fixtures," takes place Saturday, March 25, from 1:45 P.M. 3:15 P.M. at McCormick Place. The sessions retail panel will address the best practices in purchasing fixtures, and the short- and long-term benefits of making good purchasing decisions. The panelists are: Joe Flaherty, vice president of capital purchasing, Federated Department Stores; Dennis Gerdeman, principal, Chute Gerdeman Group; and Bruce Michelotti, director of fixture purchasing, Kmart Corporation. NASFM Executive Director Klein Merriman will moderate the session. Todays extremely competitive selling environment compels retailers to continuously upgrade their capital expenditure practices. The right fixture plays an ever-increasing role in determining a stores success: effectively displaying merchandise, supporting brand identity, and drawing customers through the store. "Our role as a fixture purchasing information source includes efforts to educate our members customers on the finer points of fixture buying and manufacturing," said Merriman. "As the sponsor of GlobalShop and The Store Fixturing Show, we are excited to also participate in the seminar program. We hope that our continued interaction with retailers encourages them to look to NASFM members first when making their next fixture purchase." The session targets retailers, designers, brand marketers, and other fixture buyers and specifiers. Store fixture manufacturers may also be interested in attending. Tickets are $60 per person. To purchase tickets, contact GlobalShop at 1-800-646-0091 or order them online at www.globalshop.org.
